PSG Edges Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
