Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
